Everyone is in a bright orange flight suit, with a helmet on but the visor up. Husband, a 45-year-old Air Force colonel and second-time space flier, is seen sipping from drink pouches and, along with McCool, putting on gloves. The tape has a decided home video quality to it, with the camera wobbly and pointed at times at the cockpit ceiling. Through a public relations firm, two of the widows declined to comment on the video other relatives could not be reached. The space agency acknowledged the existence of the tape Tuesday but put off broadcasting it until Friday, to make sure the astronauts' families could see it first. It reveals nothing helpful to the investigation, NASA officials say. It was found on the ground, out in the open. The tape was discovered five days after the disaster, on Feb. Three of the astronauts were seated in the lower deck and are not on the tape: Michael Anderson, David Brown and Ilan Ramon, who became the first Israeli in space with Columbia's launch on Jan. Investigators are trying to figure out what caused the breach. ![]() The accident investigation board suspects a break in the left wing let in the scorching air and led to the destruction of Columbia and the deaths of all seven astronauts. The spaceship broke apart 38 miles above Texas, 16 minutes shy of touchdown. Clark turns the camera around and smiles into it.Īs Columbia started its descent through the atmosphere, Clark pointed the camera at the overhead window to show the bright orange and yellow flashes from the superheated gases surrounding the spaceship as it streaked toward a landing in Florida, where all of their families waited. She aimed it at Kalpana Chawla, the flight engineer seated next to her, and asked: "Can you look at the camera for a second? Look at me." Chawla waves at the camera. The small digital camera was mounted at the front of the cockpit, to the right of McCool, who then handed it to Clark. He was commander of Columbia's previous mission, a year earlier, and is also part of NASA's investigation team. But the rest of the tape was destroyed in the accident, leaving only the initial 13 minutes of tape to be recovered from the reel, said astronaut Scott Altman. The camera almost certainly continued recording. The tape ends a minute later - and a full four minutes before the first sign of trouble. Says Laurel Clark, seated behind them: "What, like we did before?" drawing a big laugh. "Yeah, you definitely don't want to be outside now," Husband adds. McCool observes how bright it is outside and calls it amazing. "All right, we're at 100th of a G," Husband notes. "Yep, we're getting some G's (gravity)," replies his co-pilot, William McCool. "Looks like a blast furnace," commander Rick Husband says, referring to the bright flashes outside the cockpit windows as Columbia re-entered the atmosphere above the Pacific on Feb. ![]() Among the more than 250 videos aboard Columbia - most of them to document scientific experiments - it was the only one recovered that had any recording left. The video cassette shown on NASA TV on Friday was found three weeks ago in East Texas. They remarked on the blast-furnace heat outside - mere minutes before the superheated gases were about to penetrate the left wing and lead to their deaths. They helped one another in the cockpit, collecting empty drink bags and putting on their spacesuit gloves. SPACE CENTER, Houston - In the final minutes of their lives, Columbia's astronauts were cheerful, at times lighthearted. ![]() ![]() ![]() The tooling is similar to that of the web using the React Native CLI, we should be able to set up the basic environment needed for the app. Together, they make up a large developer community & mature ecosystem.Ī quick LinkedIn talent search for Javascript easily tops the results count. Then there’s ReactJS, which is still the most in-demand framework for creating web apps. Most developers are probably already familiar with it. So the fact that React Native uses it is a major plus. JavaScript is the language of the web and by far the most popularprogramming language. So, let’s take a closer look at all of these factors and how they impact the decision to use React Native. The use of JavaScript as a programming language, React-based UI components, the translation layer bridge, describing the layout and interface, and development experience that is similar to web development all have significant implications in terms of technical aspects, developer preferences, and hiring considerations. That was a brief explaination of React Native’s architecture but important to our discussion here. The JavaScript code that you wrote runs on JavaScript engine ( JavaScriptCore) and the React Native Bridge is responsible for communication between native modules and JavaScript side. In layman’s terms, the end result is a truly native app for the corresponding platform, but built with React and JavaScript. After that, the communication bridge awaits a callback response from the native module for events and underlying platform APIs written in native code, such as the camera or accelerometer. Then, using a communication bridge and a JavaScript engine, React Native translates those core components into native components (separately for each platform). Using JavaScript, we describe the layout, view elements and interactions with React components. If only there was a single programming language and set of tools that could generate native UI for both platforms - that would be a straightforward solution, wouldn’t it? That is precisely what happens with React Native. In iOS development, apps are written in Swift or Objective-C, while in Android development, they are written in Kotlin or Java. In 2015, the company open-sourced React Native, a framework based on React specifically for building mobile apps for Android and iOS. ReactJS is a widely used JavaScript library for building user interfaces introduced by Meta/Facebook. That might provide us with a clear choice. Let’s make a head-to-head comparison of few important areas where one framework might be a better choice than the other. The decision to choose an approach is influenced by a number of factors, including the project’s specific requirements, the skill level of the development team, the current job market in your area, performance, ease of development, community support, and more. ![]() Therefore, the answer to most questions in consulting is simply “it depends,” this is also true for Flutter vs React Native or even the longstanding Native vs Cross-platform debates. However, it’s important to note that the reasons for choosing a cross-platform approach can vary, such as not needing a full range of platform-specific features for your app business, maintaining consistent UI/UX for all platforms, utilising available talent, and so on. Our consulting client needed a solution to these challenges in order to achieve efficiency in terms of both time and cost, and to address this, we decided to go with a cross-platform, unified codebase. The elephant in the room when considering mobile app development is the challenge of maintaining multiple codebases, hiring narrowly specialized engineers, synchronising timelines, iterations, and time to market, and, of course, project budget. Hence, we’ll create a simple Bookmark app in both frameworks to illustrate our observations, even though the world probably doesn’t need another Bookmark app. ![]() Practical experience are invaluable in the ChatGPT era. Feel free to browse specific sections based on your level of knowledge and familiarity. If you are a technical leader currently evaluating which framework is the best fit for your project, this is a relevant discussion. In this article, we’ll assess these frameworks for a consulting project, looking at technical and business implications and making a choice that fulfils your requirements in 2023 and beyond. ![]() That’s why multi-platform frameworks like Facebook’s React Native and Google’s Flutter are becoming popular choices for building mobile apps from a single codebase. However, maintaining multiple codebases and dedicated teams for traditional native app development can be challenging. Native development is still preferred for building remarkable experiences. While mobile phones are playing an indispensable role in the daily lives of most people, the mobile app development has also evolved drastically. ![]() ![]() ![]() There is no digital copy included, due to it being available digitally with a Netflix subscription.Įl Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie comes with a 1080p HD transfer and is presented in 2.39:1 aspect ratio here. El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie is a fantastic send-off for the Pinkman character and the story of Breaking Bad. Gilligan once again uses his unique way of storytelling with the mix of flashbacks that meld perfectly with the present along with some dark humor and subtle symbolism from the show. These little moments dig even deeper into the many states of Jesse and what he went through that made him the guy he is now in the present.Įl Camino is packed with cameos from Breaking Badin some form and fashion that gives even more closure and depth to their characters, but overall, this is the final act for Jesse Pinkman and a well-deserved one at that. In between the scenes that are set present day, Gilligan reveals some of the events that took place when Jesse was captured under the severe conditions of the Brotherhood, his submissive psyche towards Todd, and even a new wonderful early conversation with Walt when they were cooking meth out of the RV. By the end of El Camino, Jesse is the calm and vicious mastermind that Walt once was that has him metaphorically and literally on fire. It's not an easy road for Pinkman for these elements to fall in place, but what El Camino showcases so well is Jesse's transformation into a skilled chess player, always thinking at least three steps ahead and succeeding in his plans, something he was never able to do during the events of Breaking Badwithout the help of his partner Walt. After this sequence of events, Jesse heads to Ed Galbraith (Robert Forester), the vacuum cleaner salesman who moonlights in making people disappear, in order to ensure his safe passage and fake documents to Alaska. ![]() By doing this, Jesse is met with some bad guys and former employee's of the Brotherhood that doesn't exactly go his way. With zero clothes, assets, or money - Badger and Skinny Pete give their hero Jesse just enough to make an escape from law enforcement that has Jesse headed to the late Todd's Alquist's apartment to take his giant money stash in order to start a new life in Alaska. Jesse is a shell of a man at this point, but after a good night's sleep, he takes his first shower in what seems like a year and cleans himself off, ready for the next step towards his freedom. This is where El Camino picks up, only mere seconds after the final shot of Breaking Bad as Jesse (Aaron Paul) drives to Skinny Pete and Badger's house. The last image of Jesse is of him driving off, laughing, and crying about his escape as Walt quietly dies amongst his only friend - the meth lab. The climax in the final episode of Breaking Bad revealed Walt's big plan of killing everyone at the Brotherhood compound while saving Jesse's life from capture and torture. With the finale of Breaking Bad, there were a few questions left unanswered, mostly with the character of Jesse Pinkman played by Aaron Paul, which is where Vince Gilligan comes back to the director's chair with the Breaking Bad sequel film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie that is as wonderful, brilliant, and suspenseful as any Breaking Bad episode ever was. DRIBBLE>WAVES>DRIBBLE>FLOES>HOUSEDOG knows no equal. Mindless Dribble begins what is easily one of the most memorable song strains ever assembled by the Biscuits. Once the Fiddler is rare and rages, but more then that it allows you to be caught off guard by what comes next. Set 2 in any fair assessment obliterates nearly any other set ever played - possibly by any band, ever. Home Again is high energy and a great choice to end a very good 1st set. Kamole starts off smoking and then gets slightly psychedelic before settling back within its theme. Haleakala is rare and has beautiful lyrics so good stuff there. ![]() Additionally, listen for the slight Story tease toward the end - immediately followed by a serene streaming segue of which Haleakala Crater emerges. While it may not live up to other more recent versions you will hear bare in mind it is one of the first ever played, and thus unique in that regard. Story pushes the limits of sound and synergy and serves as a sonic precursor of things to come. Like Pacino in Scarface this show absolutely dominates.įrom the outset and the Story opener it's evident that more than just another show lie in store. ![]() |
